Qualification Overview

The Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Instructing Suspension Training (RQF) is aimed at those learners who are qualified fitness instructors and personal trainers and are looking to be able to competently plan and instruct Suspension Training.

The Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Instructing Suspension Training (RQF)  provides learners with the extended knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to competently instruct suspension Training.

The qualification will also allow learners to be able to prepare, instruct, demonstrate and evaluate a suspension training exercise session.

 

Qualification Structure

To successfully achieve the Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Instructing Suspension Training (RQF) learners must complete the two mandatory units below achieving a total of 4 credits.

 

Learner Entry Requirements

A learner must have previously completed a Level 2 Fitness instructing qualification, other than this Focus Awards do not set any other entry requirements for the qualification; however other requirements may be required by the centre.

 

Progression Routes 

Learners wishing to progress from this qualification can undertake the following qualifications:

  • Focus Awards Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral (RQF)
  • Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage (RQF)
  • Level 4 Certificate NVQ Diploma in Personal Training (RQF)
  • Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (RQF)

 

Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Instructing Circuit Training Sessions (RQF)

Qualification Overview

The Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Circuit Training Sessions (RQF) is aimed at those learners qualified with a level 2 fitness qualification looking to be able to competently plan and instruct circuit training sessions.

The Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Circuit Training Sessions (RQF) provides learners with the extended knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to competently instruct circuit training sessions.  The qualification will also allow learners to be ably prepare, instruct, demonstrate and evaluate a circuit training exercise session highlighting the benefits and safety considerations to be considered when designing a circuit training sessions programme.

 

Qualification Structure

To successfully achieve the Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Circuit Training Sessions (RQF) learners must complete the two mandatory units below achieving a total of 10 credits.

A learner must have previously completed a Level 2 Fitness instructing qualification other than this Focus Awards do not set any other entry requirements for the qualification however other requirements may be required by the centre.

  • Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training
  • Level 3 National Award/Certificate/Diploma in Sport

Qualification Overview

The Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Instructing Studio Cycling (RQF) is aimed at those learners qualified with a level 2 fitness qualification looking to be able to competently plan and instruct Studio Cycling sessions.

 

The Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Instructing Studio Cycling (RQF) provides learners with the extended knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to competently instruct Studio cycling.  The qualification will also allow learners to be ably prepare, instruct, demonstrate and evaluate a studio cycling exercise session highlighting the benefits and safety considerations to be considered when designing a studio cycling programme.

The Focus Awards Level 3 Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport (QCF) is aimed at those learners currently working or wishing to work in a physical education and school sport setting.

The purpose of the Focus Awards Level 3 Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and Schools Sport (QCF) is to provide leaners with the knowledge and understanding of delivering physical education and programmes with in schools. The qualification prepares learners for employment within a school sports environment, and covers communication and professional relationships, understanding child and young person development, safeguarding, planning, delivery and reviewing Physical Education and School Sport Programme.

The Focus Awards level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy (RQF) is aimed at those learners currently working in the sports and active leisure sector and have already achieved the level 3 diploma in sports massage who are looking to move onto the next level.

 

The purpose of the Focus Awards Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy (RQF) is to provide the leaner with the knowledge, skills and understanding that is needed to be able to Conducting Subjective and Objective Assessments, Provide Sports Massage Techniques to Prevent and Manage Injury and Treatment Modalities to Support Soft Tissue Repair.

 

Qualification Structure

In order to complete the Focus Awards Focus Awards Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy (RQF) learners must achieve 19 credits from  3 mandatory units.

 

Learner Entry Requirements

To complete this qualifications learners must have previously achieved a Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy or Equivalent. Other learner entry requirements are at the discretion of the centre

Focus Awards Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Sports Development (QCF)

The Focus Awards Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Sports Development aims to recognise competence within the workplace for learners in a sports development role within the active leisure sector.

This qualification is aimed at:

  • Learners aged 16+ who have the opportunity to pursue a career in the active leisure industry as a sports development officer.
  • Activity leaders that would like a qualification to help them progress to the next level as a sports development officer (learners must be given sufficient responsibilities in order to generate the necessary evidence for their chosen units).
  • Current sports development officers that would like a nationally recognised qualification to formalise their experience and skills within their current role.
  • Active leisure facilities (leisure centre, local councils etc…) that require their existing sports development staff to hold a nationally recognised qualification to improve their overall management of staff, improve links in the community and general customer service across their establishment(s).

The Focus Awards Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety (RQF) is a work based competence qualification. The qualification is aimed at stewards who provide services such as health, safety and security, customer service to help spectators have a safe and enjoyable experience at the event.

The qualification will provide learners with the necessary skills, knowledge and competence across areas including preparing for events, controlling and monitoring spectators and managing conflict appropriately.

The Focus Awards Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety (RQF) meets the minimum requirements defines in the Green Guide: Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds. This enables learners to steward at live match events as well as other live spectator events

The Focus Awards Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Personal Training (RQF) is a competency based qualification for personal trainers. The qualification is aimed at exercise instructors who are capable of planning, delivering and evaluating physical activity programmes independently and without direct supervision.

The Focus Awards Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Personal Training (RQF) is at level 3 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework. It also provides access onto the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at level 3.

The Focus Awards Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (QCF) is aimed at learners who are looking to become a personal trainer and who have achieved a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction.

The Focus Awards Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (QCF) aims to provide the learner with the knowledge and skills required for an individual to work unsupervised as a personal trainer. This includes being able to offer one-to-one training, baseline assessment, nutritional advice and progressive programming which is specific to the individual needs of a client.

This qualification is recognised as an approved qualification for entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at Level 3.
