Resources update March-April 2024

Emergency First Aid at Work – There is a new assessment pack for learners and assessors to complete this is available on on the Qualitas shop. All centres must migrate over to our assessment pack no later than the end of June 2024. This has been created to ensure all centres are assessing learners in the same method. Focus Awards do not allow exams as a method of assessment, this includes tests and multiple choice questions. Assessing learners through only multiple choice questions doesn’t allow the learner to show the depth of their knowledge.

Gym Based Exercise and Personal Training – We are working towards developing new resources for this qualification. Currently, we have workbooks for the overall qualification, we know it can be quite daunting for learners to receive a huge 300+ workbook, so we’re taking steps to reduce this.

As an Awarding Organisation, we do not approve the use of exams for fitness qualifications, Centres must migrate across to workbooks. Centres may create their own assessments, but they must be approved by your EQA.

If a Centre wanted to create an assessment with a combination multiple choice questions and shorter answer questions to assess the ‘identify’, ‘define’, and some ‘describe’ questions then this could be approved, however, this assessment method does not allow for the higher order command verbs to be met such as ‘explain’, ‘evaluate’ or ‘analyse’ so those elements must be met in the workbook or other appropriate method of assessment.
